BEHIND THE SCENES

behind the scenes toy shoot in New Zealand

Sometimes, in fact most times, what goes on behind the scenes while setting up the shot is infinitely more interesting than the final image. No one sees the figures falling down, the number of minute adjustments just to make sure the figures look alive, the twisting of the body while trying to get the best angle. Mostly an exercise in patience and sometimes a messy and occasionally frustrating affair, at the end of the day though, it’s ALL WORTH IT!

Toy Safaris

Toy photography can be a therapeutic exercise when out shooting on your own. However, it can also be a social event. For the latter, there’s always toy safaris to look forward to. It was definitely an unforgettable experience going on a toy safari with my overseas friends in Melbourne, Australia. While here in Singapore, we have the Facebook group Plastic Singapore (of which I am very proud to be a co-founder) where we have monthly toy outing. So, do give the group a follow if you reside in Singapore and join us on our next toy safari.

As my good friend Shelly always say :
‘Putting the social back into social media.’
That’s what toy safari is all about. Mostly socializing instead of shooting toys! This was an amazing experience travelling all the way to Melbourne, Australia just to meet virtual friends in the flesh. Spent a day shooting at various iconic locations and ending it with drinks all round.

One of the first few local outings at Library@Orchard. The National Library Board was very supportive and let us in 1 hour before official opening to have full access to the place.

Relationship with the National Library Board has grown stronger and we now have bi-monthly meetups at the library for indoor shoot. Thanks Ben for the video!
